These last few days have involved saying good-bye to a lot of friends; Saying good-bye usually involves a cup of coffee; And a cup of coffee never fails to get the conversation flowing freely. No subject is to small for this setting, and the wondrous black liquid clarifies any problem, leaving everything crystal clear.
As time draws closer to the event everyhing in my life has gravitated around lately, the last cup of coffee is just a day away. I will miss these oases of calmity in the middle of a hectic life; But at the same time I look forward to all the coffees-to-come.
As I sit down by my cup
And you sit down by yours
I look across the black ocean
And reach for your heart
If you open up and let me in
I will let you grab my heart
And from now on it's not you and me
It's us

Prequel to Cambridge
Autumn is usually a time for things that end. And that is definitely true for what is happening next week. The melancholic feeling of leaving my old life behind is perfectly captured in this picture:

The picture, with its thoughtful autumn colours, depicts my home for the last six years, the University of Oslo, a suitable homage to my Alma Mater Studiorum. Besides my familiy I guess this is what I will miss the most when I leave: my friends, my colleagues and all the social happenings at uni. Hopefully, this will not alter much, as the place I'm going to is ranked the top university in Europe. In addition it is one of my favourite places in the world.

The mixture of 800 years of history, the brightest minds of Europe, the beautiful scenery and afternoon tea should be enough to convince anyone that this is the place to be. Currently, I have three days left before I leave. That means I don't even have time to do half the things I wont before I leave. Desperately trying to balance my time between packing, tidying up, saying good-bye to friends, I have finally surrendered: Some of you I wont see before I leave; but I promise I'll catch up with you via internet; I'll keep you posted through my blog; and I'll make sure to see you soon.
My expectations are many. Maybe will I be disappointed that not all of them are fulfilled; but I am more convinced that Cambridge will suprise me in many ways I haven't thought of. I guess the first few weeks in Cambridge will be a conglomerate of feelings and experiences. Hopefully, most of them will find their way to this blog and give you a taste of my new life.
